The Anambra State Police Command’s male officers, stationed at the Harbour Division, successfully apprehended two individuals engaged in the act of forcefully depriving unsuspecting members of the public of their possessions on the Second Niger Bridge.
The Police team, engaged in a vigilant surveillance patrol on the Bridge, took notice of the activities of a gang in close proximity to the Obosi end of the bridge. Their primary objective was to deter vandals from pilfering the expansion joints.
The Covert Police Team, an organised unit specialising in discreet surveillance and intervention, diligently observed the activities of the gang under scrutiny. In a swift and coordinated operation, they executed a strategic manoeuvre, apprehending two members of the gang, while the remaining individuals hastily dispersed in an attempt to evade capture.
Upon conducting a thorough search, it was discovered that the individuals in question, whose ages range from 20 to 22 years, possessed a total of two daggers and five sim cards. Notably, these items were found to have been extracted from mobile phones that had been previously reported as stolen.
The individuals under scrutiny originated from Enugu State and Ebonyi State, respectively.
The Commissioner of Police CP Aderemi Adeoye commended the Police Team for its vigilance and courage in confronting the gang. He has directed that owners of the recovered sim cards be located with a view to assembling evidence for successful prosecution of the arrested suspects.
